Pen y Bont Touring and Caravan Park
‘Gwenedd - Wales

by Rod Sleigh (2003)

Location - About one mile from Bala town centre - Gwenedd, Mid Wales

Directions - From Bala town take the B4391, Llangynog Road. Pass over the end of Bala Lake and find the site entry just after the only house on the Right.

Site - This AA 4 star site consists of 40 Caravan / Camper pitches each numbered and provided with electricity hook-ups, plus around 60 pitches for tents. Services are provided by one toilet and shower block modernised in the Continental style. In addition there are disabled facilities, a baby changing room, newly equipped laundry room and covered dish washing and food preparation area. A usefully stocked shop resides in the reception building, which is recently built out of stone blending well with the local surrounding properties.

Many of the Caravan / Camper pitches are level although some do slope too much for use by Campers even with levelling ramps. The tent area suffers from a similar problem, perhaps to a greater degree.

The site is open from late March to the end of October, charges for a Motor Caravan with two occupants and an electric hook-up are £13.20 per night. £11.00 without the electric hook-up.

The surrounding area provides for most country interests from walking, sight seeing, sailing and even white-water rafting.
