This years Town and Country Festival was again a great success. All involved had a wonderful time, and asked to be included in the line up for next year. For those of you who have never attended the ‘T & C’, you really are missing a treat. It’s basically a 3-day show that will appeal to all the family. It’s not only a car show, but is in fact like an enormous Gala / Fete type event. There is a Grand Arena, which holds Motorcycle display shows and fire breathing Monster Truck events. There’s a 4x4 off roading course which is great fun, there’s a food hall which holds lots of little stalls for food companies to display their wares, there’s a craft area, model making zone, antiques barn, gardening section and thousands of stalls that sell everything you can possibly think of. There’s so much to see and do, you can’t possibly see it all in a day.
We at the VWOC (GB) were again taking part in the classic car display. There is a large area of the showground set aside for lots of different of car clubs, ranging from MG’s, to Jensons, to Armstrong Siddelys and of course your beloved Volkswagens. We had an excellent turn out this year too, with 10 or 12 cars attending each day. So without further delay, a great big THANK YOU to...
Glyn Bowen and family with his Green Type 2 camper.
Alan and Gerhild West with their Blue Passat.
Roy Eastwood and his Green Mk3 Golf G.T.i.
Pete and Yvonne Younger and their Black Beetle.
Andy Hayward Claire Chapman and (Zak) their Type 25 van.
Keith and Linda Vipond and their blue Beetle.
Helen Murray and Ringo the black Beetle.
Steve Bood and his white T4 camping bus.
Martin Lowry and Adrian Parker with their Type 25 camper.
Gareth Kerr with his white Beetle.
Brendan Collis and the Dog, (and the shirt for that matter!) with his White Golf cab.
Matt and Debbie Mulvale with their Red Vento and Type 25 van.Again, many many thanks for taking time out and coming to the show, helping out and generally being good sports. Even by just turning up and showing your vehicle, you’re helping the club a great deal by raising awareness and our profile. I think we even took on a few more members this year too.
Special thanks goes to VWOC (GB) Treasurer, our very own Mr. Gareth Kerr. If it weren’t for Gareth, the club probably wouldn’t have been at the show this year. He organised pretty much the whole thing, and even ‘carted’ all the equipment to and from the showground. So cheers mate, we all owe you a Pint!
